Costa de Lisboa
With all respect to football fans, I never visited a single stadium. Nor a golf course, and this is what Portugal is known for. I like the country because it is quiet, green and lies very far from my own. The history is rich, while its monuments seem modest in decoration for our Orthodox tradition and luckily had survived architectural innovations. The climate is mild, and so is the national temper. The Portuguese mostly sing, not dance good for me, as my ear is better than my eyes. They do not normally make fuss, even when they go on strike, which happened every other day when I was there. The service is good, but no servants are in sight. And can you believe it? a railway ticket attendant at a remote station speaks pretty good English. In short, a most pleasant place for someone spoiled and stressed out, who likes civilization at hand and his best friend at a respectful distance.
